Parent and Pupil Surveys
Every year, Hailey School conducts an annual survey of its pupils and its parents. We take the results of these very seriously and use the information to track progress against our Strategic Action Plan. We report back to parents on the summary of results and, after discussion with staff and the governing body, we agree actions to be taken which we then report back to parents. We always welcome feedback from parents and pupils about the school and how we can improve our provision, so that we can fulfil our aim of providing the best starting block for children in our care.
Thank you to everyone who filled out our parent survey. It is really important to us to hear from parents, and we take the feedback very seriously. We’d like to take the opportunity to share this year/term’s findings with you as well as action taken or to be taken in response to the areas for improvement highlighted. We are proud that over 92% of those who responded said their child was happy at the school, that they felt safe at the school, that the school makes sure pupils are well behaved and has high expectations for their child. 100% of those who responded said that the school makes them aware of what their child/children will learn during the year. The survey also highlighted areas for improvement. For example, 89% of families felt the school encourages their child to read. We have therefore organised a sponsored read and the Friends are fundraising to develop a whole school library. 14% of families felt that there were not enough activities and clubs that children could be involved with. We have faced some difficulties with clubs and activities over the years as they need to be well attended in order to enable us to run them, which has not always been the case. However, the school will continue to seek other club opportunities and welcome your views on clubs that you would like to see/would encourage your children to attend. 25% of families were unsure about how the school supports its pupil’s wider personal development. The school has recently joined the School Superkind Award and children have been involved in volunteering and fundraising as part of those activities. So far, we have raised made donations for the reverse advent calendar for Witney Food Bank, raised money for Red Nose Day, written our own Human Rights Chater, we are running Sports Leaders at lunchtime and Year 6 pupils are ambassadors and buddies. We are always open to ideas or suggestions about other ways that we can support wider personal development so please do share your thoughts with us.
We thank you again for your time in completing the survey.
