Uniform and what to bring

All children in the Foundation Stage Unit wear a school uniform. Navy blue sweatshirts bearing the school logo are available from http://www.pmgschoolwear.co.uk. This can be worn with either school trousers/skirts or jogging bottoms. Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly named.

Please DO NOT send your child in lace up shoes unless they are able to tie them up independently.  We recommend that your child wears footwear with Velcro fastenings to promote independence in their daily routine (crocs and open toe sandals are not appropriate).  Your child will need a pair of named wellingtons for outdoor play.

Protective aprons will be provided for messy activities such as water play, painting and cookery.

As part of the curriculum, your child will spend time outside each day and to ensure they are able to fully access the outdoor area they will need suitable clothing.  In the winter, we ask that he/she brings a warm, waterproof coat, a pair of wellies, a hat, and a pair of gloves.  In the summer, we ask that he/she brings a sun hat, and sun tan lotion if they are staying all day.  Staff cannot apply sun tan lotion directly to the children so we ask that they arrive wearing an application in the mornings. Please avoid waiting to apply cream at school in the coat area, as this practice causes major congestion in the mornings and prevents the children from accessing their pegs.

For those children who stay in the afternoons, we can tell them where to apply their lotion and observe to ensure they have rubbed it in thoroughly.  It would be helpful if parents/carers help the children to learn to apply their own lotion.  Please send a named drink of water (no juice) each day for your child to keep in the classroom to drink from as often as they need.  If you inadvertently send juice, we will replace it with water.  The container needs to be clearly labeled with the child’s name and be taken home at the end of the day and washed.  A separate drink (which can be juice) will need to be provided for your child if they are having packed lunch.
