The FSU is staffed with a full-time qualified teacher and two teaching assistants. Our adult: child ratios comply with and often exceed the legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). All the staff are First Aid trained.
Although all the adults within the FSU will be involved in planning for the needs and development of your child, we do use a key person approach in the FSU. This means that your child will have a key person who will help them to settle, ensure that any particular needs and interests are provided for, as well as be a point of contact for you, the parents/carers.
We aim to achieve the Early Learning Goals, a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, through the application of good quality educational equipment for outdoor and indoor learning. Hailey FSU has an excellent range, allowing children to enjoy different activities in all areas (role play, dressing up, water, sand, painting, dough, construction, maths and science) and includes a wide selection of art and craft materials, musical instruments, puzzles and games. There is a vast selection of story, poem and reference books as well as big books and library books. Mark making and writing materials are always available.
