Hello and welcome to Phoenix class. Our class is a mixed class of kind and friendly Years 3 and 4 (Lower Juniors) who are eager to try new things. The Year 4 children do a fantastic job of helping the Year 3 children to settle and learn the new routines that come with a new Key Stage. Throughout the year we aim to build on the independence gained in the Infants whilst having fun and learning within our creative curriculum.
Each term starts with a new topic that will be the basis of our English, History, Geography, Science, Design and Technology, ICT and Art. Maths is taught as a discrete subject, although we find Maths is threaded through many of the other subjects. The children are very enthusiastic about the topics and get excited as they cover a wide range of interests.
Children learn through independent activities, pair work or small groups and activities are differentiated to cater for all abilities. Running alongside these activities, we have targeted intervention programmes that ensure the needs of each individual child are met.
